Junior Cycle

Art is offered to all first year students on entry to our school. Firsts Years have 3 classes of art per week.

After 1 year students make their subject choices and will proceed to do the junior cycle and do a project in art for their Junior Certificate.

The areas offered for junior cycle are drawing, both from object and life, graphic design, modelling, printing, packaging and painting.

The junior cycle students will get the opportunity to experiment with lots of different media.

Transition Year


After the Junior Certificate students can opt for Transition Year. This year is aimed at all students, even those who not have studied art previously. During this year, students are offered the opportunity to experiment in various different areas, i.e. Batik, Fabric printing, Screen printing, Marbling and Casting.

Senior Cycle


The Senior Cycle includes three practical areas plus a written exam in Art History. During this time, students visit art galleries and museums.
Advice is also given to those students preparing a portfolio for Art College.
