Geography is a compulsory subject in Junior Cycle for all pupils.

All Transition Year students must also complete the Geography module. Teachers of TY include a taster programme of the revised Leaving Cert syllabus in the year’s work.

At Senior Cycle Geography is optional. Students choose Leaving Certificate subjects based on formal career guidance and informal consultation with parents and teachers. The choice is made at the end of third year or TY.

Geography is always a very popular option for the Leaving Certificate here in St. Muredach‘s College. Uptake in Geography in 2008/09 was 73%.
