About LCVP

St. Muredach's College offers an enhanced Leaving Certificate called the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programmge, commonly referred to as LCVP. This programme seeks to prepare students for further education and the world of work.

Programme of Study

This programme fosters in our students a spirit of enterprise, flexibility and initiative. Soft skills such as communication, teamworking and technological skills. These skills are vital in the constantly changing environment our students will find themselves in when they move into the world of work.

There are two Link Modules that the students must study in order to complete LCVP. These modules are:

  • Enterprise Education
  • Preparation for the World of Work

Assessment


The subject is studied over the course of two years and is assessed in two ways:
Portfolio of coursework (60%)
Terminal written exam (40%)

Successful students who pursue this programme attain one of the following results:
Distinction (80 -100%)
Merit (64-79%)
Pass (50-64%)

These results achieve the following points for CAO recognition:
Distinction 70 points
Merit 50 points
Pass 30 points

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria to persue the Link Modules subject is based on a range of vocational or specialist subject groupings. These are available on www.examinations.ie. or from the school.
