Music is a compulsory subject for our First Year students. They receive two music classes each week where they are introduced to the three elements of music: composing, performing and listening. No prior knowledge of music is needed. Students may choose to select Music as a subject to Junior Cert level. Music is also offered for Leaving Certificate where the three elements of music are further explored and students are introduced to Music Technology.
Transition Year students attend a music songwriting module every week in conjunction with, 'The Core' which is part of Music Generation and based in Ballina Arts Centre. They perform their original song on stage in front of an audience in the Ballina Arts Centre at the end of the module.
Music students are encouraged to participate in extra curricular activities such as guitar lessons, Music Generation initiatives and to participate in community events.
