In April 2024, the Minister for Education announced a phased return to normal grading, beginning in 2025. To ease this transition, post-marking adjustments (concessions) will be gradually reduced while minimising the impact on students as much as possible.
The return to standard grading will take place over several years in a phased, student-focused manner. The 2025 adjustments aim to keep overall results no lower than approximately midway between 2020 and 2021 levels.
Additionally, the same modifications to assessment components, such as increased choice on Leaving Certificate exam papers, will remain in place for 2025. These are identical to the assessment adjustments applied in 2023 and 2024.
