Welcome to our website whether you are a student, past pupil, parent or interested observer. We hope you get a better insight, understanding, and appreciation of what we do in St. Muredach’s College.
We are a Catholic Diocesan College under the Patronship of the Bishop of Killala and we first opened our doors in 1906 as a junior seminary providing secondary schooling for boys and facilitating them to sit public examinations prepared by the State.
Education is much more than the transfer of knowledge, so as a school we seek to promote the following:
- A caring school community that celebrates its diversity and keeps partnership and inclusion at the centre of all its activities.
- The holistic development of each member of the school community including the spiritual, moral, emotional, social and human aspects.
- The provision of a stimulating environment to assist the growth of each member of our community through a broad formal and informal curriculum.
- High quality teaching and learning.
- All talents and gifts are respected and nurtured within our school.
- The role of parents and guardians as primary educators.
Finally, we are proud of what our students have achieved in the past, academically as well as winning national and international competitions in many disciplines on the sports field. We celebrate their growth into young men who will continue to have a very positive influence on the lives of others. May the strong tradition of excellence and caring among our staff and students continue into the future.
